About Bill Stanley, Hobbyist Gardener

GardenerHello! And welcome to my site. My name is Bill Stanley and I’ve been gardening for over 20 years. I love to maintain my garden in my spare time (when I’m not with my grandkids!).

I hope you enjoy the tips on my site. I made this site to share everything I know about gardening with the world. I’m not a professional, but I’ve done my time in the dirt! Thanks for visiting.

Good for you Bill! Very helpful topics in your blog. Experience is just as valuable in my book.

Hi Bill - I keep trying to send you an email about a question I have on types of climbers for my new outdoor project.

My email keeps getting rejected (I think it’s due to the area IP range). Is there another email I should use or would you like me to post it as a comment somewhere on the site? Thanks!

I have two questions I hope you can help me with. First is about holly hocks and getting rid of a bug of some kine that destroys the buds as they begin to be ready to open.
The second is about a perrenial called Crocosmia. I have great plants and limited blooming. I want to know what to put on them to encourage more blooming.

A very nice website…Your knowledge about plants is impressive. If you have a moment, I do wonder if you may be able to help me with a bit of a quandary. I have a tiny palm tree in a pot, but I lost the label that it came with so I no longer know what species it is exactly and how to best care for it. I’ve spent hours online trying to find it but to no avail. If I email you a photo, do you think you would be able to identify it for me? Again — if you have time and interested, your help would be most appreciated…

    Bill,
Could you please email me regarding a link that you have on your website. I would prefer to discuss this matter with you via email or phone rather than publish it on your website. Thank you.

Hi Bill, I enjoyed your site the info on sweeter tomatoes was very informative. I am growing some new varieties of tomatoes this year. I have German Queen and Cherokee Black. The gardener that shared the Cherokee Black tomato plant told me that it is a ugly ugly fruit but she promised me the fruit is really good. I will let you know . I will save some of the seeds to share.
    Happy Gardening
