How To Install A Bathroom Faucet

Once you have everything ready for your faucet installation, you are all set to and install a faucet. It is therefore vital, that the first stage you ensure the surface is clean.

  • Insert the rubber gasket between the faucet’s base plate and the sink top to create a watertight seal. If no gasket is provided, seal the perimeter of the faucet base with plumber’s putty, then insert the tailpieces through the holes in the sink top.
  • If you are lucky enough to have water supply tubes already attached to the tailpieces, all you need to do is insert it through the middle sink hole. This will ensure the faucet is in place on the sink.
  • Follow this up by inserting a washer and mounting nut on the underside of the tailpieces. Make sure you do not forget to tighten the nuts into place.
  • Modern day bathroom faucets usually come with a pop up mechanism that makes faucet installation much easier. This mechanism allows for easy opening and closing of the drain by simply pulling on the lift rod. This pop up must be attached to the tailpiece ensuring it is threaded into the bottom of the drain stopper. You will find a spring clip on the end of the pivot rod that you will use to attach the pop up to the tailpiece. This spring clip will grip the lift rod.
  • Insert the lift rod in the hole in the spout and adjust it to ensure the drain stopper opens properly, especially when one tries to operate the lift rod. Remember to attach the pivot rod.
  • To ensure you are able to run hot as well as cold water through your faucet, you must connect the right supply tubes to the faucet,

Once everything is in place make sure you turn on the water and run the faucet so you can make sure everything is functioning properly and that there are no leaks. Installing a bathroom faucet may not be the easiest DIY project so if you are unsure about what to do, your best bet would be to hire a plumber to install your bathroom faucet.
