Forest Lily
Questions & Answers (Q&A)
Forest Spider LilyWhen it rains it is not the water that comes down showering only but it is the time when nature comes down to meet the mother earth with all its beauty, elegance, and spreading happiness. Plants welcome the rains with their flowers blooming. Every part of the earth’s surface blooms with a different mood during the rainy season. There are some unusual and rare occasions to see something extra-ordinary happening during this time of the year. I am in receipt of a communiqué from Ashutosh, my friend from India, who described a rare variety of lily flower blooming only once a year and that too during the first showers of rainy season. It is extremely rare and I preferred to share the info with all of you.

Normally the hills are home to this rare flower plant. This specific variety of the “Forest Spider Lily” has been names as “Pamcratium Parvam” in botanical terms. These lovely white flowers bloom around 48 hours after the first rains in the hilly terrains. Once they wither, you will not see them again during the rest part of the whole year. That is why this one is a rare sight!

Forest spider lily flowers are common in the hilly terrains of southern part of Indian subcontinent. When the first rains of monsoon falls, it becomes a rare sight of this flowers blooming. They are the first ones to bloom followed by all other forest flowers subsequently.

Forest spider lily is an endemic short plant. This plant is seen only within few weeks of the beginning of a rainy season. These short plants are herbaceous perennials and they generally grow up to 30-50 cm in height. Flowers are large and have white colour with lovely fragrance.

In case of other flowering plants, the flowering takes place after the development of leaves and other parts of the plant generally but in the case of forest spider lily, the flowering takes place even before the development of leaves and other parts of the plant. Flowers do have a short life span and remain there bloomed only for a period of three to four days.

Blooming of the forest spider lily flowers thus becomes an occasion of importance for many of the wildlife enthusiasts the world over.

Forest Lily Question & Answers

Forest Lily Question: 1

replanting and caring for a canna lily (king Humbert)?

i recently purchased a canna lily ( king hummbert) from a car boot sale iwas very pleased with it because it was about 18 inches high and looked very healthy . i took it home and replanted it in multypurpose compost then i watered and fed it . the following day i noticed that the leaves had began to curl up and they were starting to go yellow, so i do not know where i have gone wrong because i have even made sure that the fore mentioned plants are exposed to full sunlight most o the day ,so if there is any body out there who can help me i would be gratefull

Answer:
Did you make sure that it was not root bound? The root would be wrapped around the inside of the previous pot. You mus fix this or the plant will die. To fix it leave it in the pot it is in now and then take a SHARP knife and about an inch away from where the plant goes into the soil plunge the knife in and pull out towards the sides of the pot. Do this all the way around. about every inch or two. then rewater and re-fertilize. It will help. If it wasn't root bound then try another fertilizer some cannas are really sensitive to strong fertilizers. Good Luck.

Forest Lily Question: 2

What is the meaning of this poem by Richard Wilbur "The Beautiful Changes?

One wading a Fall meadow finds on all sides The Queen Anne's Lace lying like lilies On water; it glides So from the walker, it turns Dry grass to a lake, as the slightest shade of you Valleys my mind in fabulous blue Lucernes. The beautiful changes as a forest is changed By a chameleon's tuning his skin to it; As a mantis, arranged On a green leaf, grows Into it, makes the leaf leafier, and proves Any greenness is deeper than anyone knows. Your hands hold roses always in a way that says They are not only yours; the beautiful changes In such kind ways, Wishing ever to sunder Things and things' selves for a second finding, to lose For a moment all that it touches back to wonder. Can you be really specific also.

Answer:
Most poems are terribly personal in interpretation. This one speaks of an intense, and sensual connection with nature. In describing the meadow as the sea, the writer transforms earth to water. In symbolism, water is fertile, emotional, and sensual. He also speaks that each part of nature enhances the other parts, sort of a mini-ecology lesson (probably unintentional). There is also mentioned "second finding," which would imply that looking at something a "second" time, you may see different aspects of its beauty. Does any of this help?

Forest Lily Question: 3

What does my weird dream mean?

Here it is: I'm part of a group, we have a leader. We're standing in a circle in a wide open field. The leader hands us white clothing and tells us to change. We do. He then ties a rope around our waists so that from a birds eye view, he is the centre of a wheel and we are the spokes. We are then told to turn away from the circle and begin to walk. I walk and walk into a forest until I can't see the others any more. I come across a dark body of water, and I get in. The water is warm but muddy and there are many many large lily pads. On each lily pad sits a young child who is frightened and crying. I swim to one young boy and hold his hands. I tell him I won't leave him, but then the rope around my waist tugs and I'm pulled from him. I woke up feeling shaken. Don't make fun of me, it's a really weird dream and it's stuck with me.

Answer:
Maybe the dream is telling you that you don't feel as ifyou're the "leader" in your own life - and you feel that someone else is in control. Water is supposed to symbolize our power and control over our emotions and actual lives- the depth and clarity of the water determines how much power we have over circumstances and situations in our lives. The fact that the water is muddy and has "obstacles" (lily pads) sounds like maybe you have unresolved issues about when you were a child. You're trying to "save and comfort" your inner child, but circumstances are preventing you from helping "yourself". Or maybe you feel that you never had the chance to enjoy your childhood as fully as you may have wished and you're feeling torn about it now. I hope this helps.....

Forest Lily Question: 4

So explain two things to me here...?

1) If Voldemort couldn't kill Harry in the forest because Lily's protection was in Voldemort's blood does that mean he would have never been able to kill Harry? For example, if he kept trying to Avada Kedavra Harry about 100 times would all of them have failed? 2) When Draco took Dumbledore's wand he became the Master of the Elder Wand. So now he had his own wand and also the Elder Wand, yes? If so, which wand did Harry take in the Manor? And was Dumbledore's wand in his tomb a decoy? So in the final duel between Voldemort and Harry who had the Elder Wand? When they both cast their curses whose wand flew into the air? Harry's or Voldemort's?

Answer:
I can't explain one but here is #2. No one knew how they power of the elder wand was passed down. Everyone thought though, that you would have to kill the bearer of the elder wand to get it's full power when really all you had to do was disarm them. So if you read back to the sixth book, you'll see that snape might kill dumbledore, but it's draco that disarms him. Thus, Draco is the bearer of the wand. But draco didn't know that, so he didn't take the wand. And the wand was recovered and buried with dumbledore, later when voldemort traced the elder wand to dumbledore and took it from his tomb. Harry took draco's wand (not the elder wand) from draco in the manor. In the final duel Voldemort had the elder wand, and it was it that flew into the air. Actually this is the answer to number 1: Harry was a horcrux. So when he hit harry with the avada kedavra, He purged his blood and soul from harry and destroyed the seventh horcrux. But harry still lived. So if voldemort had done anything to harry after that, it would have worked because harry was no longer a horcrux. It would not work on anyone else though, because harry had died to save them (except he didn't die)

Forest Lily Question: 5

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

In the Deathly Hallows it says that Harry survived the killing curse in the forbiden forest because Voldemort rebuilt himself with Harry's blood, thus keeping Lily Potter's protective charm alive. But surely even if Voldemort hadn't rebuilt himself with Harry's blood the protective charm would have still worked because Harry was still alive????. In addition to this how did the protective charm keep Harry alive?

Answer:
Well if Voldy hadn't had Harry's blood inside him, he could just kill Harry and Harry would be dead as there would be nothing tethering him to world of the living. However I never really got that as isn't the charm supposed to have broken anyway as soon as he was 17? So it wouldn't have matter if Voldy has his blood in him... Oh well.

Forest Lily Question: 6

My MAJOR Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows question?

WARNING SPOILERS When Harry "died" in the forest after Voldemort used the Killing Spell why was he able to return. My last question has left many of me and my friends in a debate 1) Some state he was able to return because he was the master of death 2) Others state he was able to come back because Harry's blood still runs in Voldemorts veins. Voldemort made the mistake of using Harry's blood in the 4th book to re-generate him self there for Lily's protection still lives on. 3) Others state that Voldemort really didn't kill Harry but only the Horcrux in him. 4) Others state it was simply his sacrafice and love that allowed him to come back. My theory is 2 and 3. He was able to come back due to the protection that his mother gave him, which still flows in Voldemort's veins. The curse hit the Horcrux in Harry and not him so he was able to come back. But these contradict b/c then he came back due to the curse hitting the Horcrux and not Harry. Or was the blood the reason for his revival. If it is his blood in Lord Voldemort that allowed for his survival then wouldn't he just keep coming back to life if he kept dieing? HYPOTHETICALLY if LV hit him with the curse again could he come back to life because of the blood? Also this all has to do with Harry dieing in the forest and coming back, nothing to do with the duel between them in Hogwarts.

Answer:
Dumbledore explains it in the next chapter. Voldemort did something really stupid by insisting he had to take Harry's blood to regain a physical body. In effect he made himself akin to a horcrux for Harry. Though not a true horcrux, he still became an anchor to allow Harry to return to life should he be killed. Harry had the choice, he could have died or he could return, and he'd always have that choice as long as Voldemort lived in that particular body. The problem with a living horcrux is that it doesn't have to physically be destroyed in some manner in order to be of no use as a horcrux. Should it die, either through being killed or through some other means it destroys the piece of the soul within it. Harry was an unintentional horcrux, that is to say that Voldemort never planned to make him a horcrux and he didn't realize he had done so the night he tried killing him as a baby. So he had to die in order for the part of him that was the horcrux to be "destroyed." But he didn't truely die, rather he was very near to death when he met Dumbledore at what looked like King's Cross Station. I've seen this as suggesting King's Cross is more than just a place where muggles and witches and wizard's catch a train, it's also a place where the near dead and those who have crossed over to the spirit realm can meet and talk. Which is exactly what was happening between him and Dumbledore. And Dumbledore told him he had the choice. He could choose to board a train, meaning he could choose to truely die and finally be with his parents again, or he could return to the world of the living. Fully alive rather than being a ghost. Harry chose the latter, but the piece of Voldemort's spirit he'd brought with him could do so. It would forever be stuck between the two plains of exsistence. Had someone destroyed Voldemort's physical form before all his horcruxes had been destroyed and he'd been reborn without using Harry's blood to do so, then Harry's sacrificing himself would have truely meant he would have died. Now when I said earlier that Voldemort was akin to a horcrux for Harry, I was not saying he had a part of Harry's soul in himself. Harry's soul was not shattered in order to make a horcrux, but a part of him flowed through Voldemort's veins. A part of him would always be alive as long as Voldemort's physical form remained as it was the night he returned. And it was that that made him akin to a horcrux for Harry. As long as he had Harry's blood in him, Harry could return from the dead.

What do you think of my Harry Potter Horcrux theory??

The 6 horcruxes are: The Diary (x)- ??? Peter Pedigrew- That woman from the ministry Nagini- Frank Bryce Locket- ??? Ring (x)- Tom Riddle Harry Potter- Lily/James While scouring througout Mugglenet, i found a theory that, in every book, a new portion of LV's soul is introduced. in the 6 so far, all but one have been confirmed. POA does not have an item that is, for sure, a horcrux, but i am convinced that it is peter pedigrew. now, I've wondered for a while WHY pedigrew was placed in gryffindor. his behavior so far (betraying james, living in exile, running into his masters protection) have all seemed pretty slytherin-esque.) my belief is that in book 7, Peter will sacrifice himself at last, to destroy voldemort, therefore justifying being in gryffendor. harry, i think, will be forced to do the same, there fore tying the final connections with his equally selfless parents.

Answer:
You think that Voldemort would put his precious soul into a piece of vermon such as Pettigrew? I don't think so. But I agree that Pettigrew will die in 7. It's time for him to pay for what he did to Harry...
