Questions & Answers (Q&A)
Lawn MowerThe green technology is growing at a faster pace now day’s. Main objective of this newly oriented technology is to help homeowners and everyone else live in an environment friendly way with co-existence. Green technologies generally focus on to the development of new techniques that would help in reducing the damages caused to the environment.

One of the major environmental challenges is the pollution. Everyone is aware of this menace and environmental hazard. But when it comes to gardening, particularly the lawn caring it is the power lawn mowers that cause pollution heavily. Lawn mowers deriving power from gas and other fuel sources are one of the major causes of concern.

Although there are electric and battery operated lawn mowers also available in the market but their utility is somewhat limited. Similarly an option of push mower may be perfect from the environmental point of view but many gardeners do not prefer it owing to many reasons.

Internal combustion lawn mowers have been proved to be the most effective means for lawn caring. Because of ease of operability many of the gardeners like using this machine. Going a step further a new “green” element has been introduced to this machine’s fuel source recently.

It is a new alternative fuel that will substantially reduce the pollution with no adverse impact on the functionality of the machine. This new alternative fuel is environment friendly as well. It is an Engine Oil in simple terms. This type of engine oil which is derived from bio-fuel based resources and is specifically formulated for the 2-cycle engines used in lawn mowers.

Green Engine OilThe bio-fuel based oil is the basic resource material for this green engine oil. It is almost smoke free and free from producing noxious fumes. Burning of this specific type of engine oil will be far cleaner compared to the usual petroleum -based engine oils. Performance of the lawn mower machine is equally good when compared with the conventional engine oils. The prices though introductory, but are quite competitive with the other varieties of engine oils also.

This green engine oil is equally useful for all other types of machines, engines, equipments and specifically for many other gardening types of equipment. These green engine oils are available with different brand names in the markets and you can easily locate some of them on the internet also.

So, next time when you plan to use lawn mower machine and other equipments better opt for green engine oil and contribute in a larger perspective to save the environment.

Lawn Mover OIL Question & Answers

Lawn Mover OIL Question: 1

Craftsman Rotary lawn mover: oil leak at Air Filter side (#927.378361)?

There is oil leak from Air filter area within Craftsman Rotary Lawn mover. It comes down from Air filter...as soon as Engine starts...and runs for 15 mins. Engine stops and then will not run. Can some one help?

Answer: 1.
Yes, this is a manufacturer problem...you will sure want to take it back to sears...the only other problem would be if you over filled the oil..but, had two of these in the shop not long ago..was the manufacturer....Will cost to get this fixed...unless you take it back and get it under warranty...look under gasoline engines in your local phone book for a sales and service dealer...in your area..they will tell you the same thing..don't take it to them..take it to sears..or they will void the warranty unless they authorize the shop to repair...be sure and get it in writing if they say another shop can do it!...
Answer: 2.
Sounds like the oil breather is broken/plugged/other. Its a small flexable tube from the side of the motor, that connects to the airfilter housing. Typically what this is supposed to do is vent gases/pressure from inside the engine while its running , its not supposed to have oil comming from it. Where it attaches to the motor, is usually a small plate with two bolts- there are baffels inside this - it'll most likely need replacing. You'll need the motor numbers ( on flywheel housing or plate on the motor) to get the proper part. It should come with gaskets.
I have a 12HP tecumseh motored tractor that did the same thing - puked oil into the aircleaner assy - replacing the breather fixed the issue.

Lawn Mover OIL Question: 2

Lawn Mover?

My lawn mover wont start after removing execive oil i had put in more oil and i removed cleaned spark plug and filter help !!!

Answer: 1.
Where are you trying to 'move' your lawn to? :)

Enough fuel? Have you tried starter fluid?
Answer: 2.
Remove the spark plug and crank the engine over several times to clear out any excessive oil from the cylinder. Then put a few drops of gasoline in the spark plug hole and install the plug and it should start with a few cranks.Good luck.
Answer: 3.
that's because your not suppose to "move" your lawn, but MOW it
Answer: 4.
First, do not, as other answers have suggested, ever use starter fluid. It can cause serious damage.
You've already cleaned the sparkplug, so what you need to do is remove the air cleaner element and put a couple drops ( an only a couple drops) of gas directly into the carburetor opening. Put the air filter element back in and close up the air cleaner. Start it up. Let it run for at least 5 minutes. You may see some smoke, but don't worry, it is just some oil burning off and will clear by itself.
Answer: 5.
Do you mean lawn mower? Take off the breather element and filter ...spray a little starter fluid in the carb(very small amount) see if it fires/Good Luck

Lawn Mover OIL Question: 3

lawn mover dies while moving the lawn?

lawn mover dies while moving the lawn very frequently, only hold on 1 minute or so. do i need add engine oil into gas tank?

Answer: 1.
You could have a bent blade as well as many of the things above. I just bent my blade a few days ago and I could not keep it running more than 3 or 4 feet. Check your blade. Good luck.
Answer: 2.
kinda vague, unlless your mower is a two stroke where you mix oil and gas, do not add oil to the gas tank. Keep the tank filled with fresh gas. Keep the oil sump filled with good oil. Clean the air filter and spray some W-D-40 into t he carburator to keep the working parts free and unstuck. Spray the outside of the carburator with WD-40 tokeep the moving parts free and moving.
Answer: 3.
First of all, have you'r W fixed.
Answer: 4.
could be both, check the levels. could also be that the choke is on or maybe your grass is too high and causing it to slow down to a stop. definately check the oil and obviously you need gas.

edit: i just reread the question. DO NOT ADD OIL INTO THE GAS TANK! unless your lawnmower is a tiny 2 cycle engine (which i seriously doubt) oil needs to go into the oil tank. it will have a seperate cap with a dipstick attached to it. you need to check to see if the oil is at the right level on the dipstick, do not over fill it. also make sure you have the right kind of oil. you shouldn't use the same oil that you would put into the car. check your manual for the proper oil.
Answer: 5.
The gas line is probably plugged , it might be in need of a tune-up!
Answer: 6.
Well, to being with, if you're MOVING the lawn as you say, then that's your problem - the mower is bogged down.

You might have junk in your fuel tank that clogs the line when the fuel is being drawn and then is released when the mower is off - I've had this happen with cars. It's more likely that it's either a clogged air filter or low fuel. I'm going with the filter myself.
Answer: 7.
Can't really answer this one without knowing if the engine is a two or four stroke.
If four stroke, do not add engine oil to the gas.
The cap on the gas tank has one or more little holes in the top. Make sure they are not blocked by dirt. This can cause the mower to stop. There are also other reasons, but without knowing whether the engine a two or four stroke, I can't help you much.
Answer: 8.
When this occurs there are several issues here. One of the most common problems is loss of power. I would assume it needs a valve job.
You can do a simple test with a compression tester.
Most local shops charge around .00 for a valve job.

If you want to tackle the job for a quick fix all you have to do is take the valve cover off and remove the intake valve and grind the stem down about .003
You will have to remove the head for this procedure.

You can use a screw driver to pop the spring holding the valve in place and then use a screw driver to put the spring ring back on by holding the valve in with one hand and screwdriver in the other. Slide the screw driver between the spring cap and walll and push it back on.
Answer: 9.
=O Wow you can move your lawn?! WOW!!! You must be like reallllly strong!!!!
Answer: 10.
when was the last time you cleaned the bottom of the mower. Are you cutting the grass when its wet or very long? the engine idle speed maybe to low and maybe in need of adjusting.. time to take it in for a tune up... hope this get you thinking in the right direction..

Lawn Mover OIL Question: 5

lawn mover issues?

we had some gas in a gas can, put it in the mower..when we go to crank it, it sounds like it about to "turn over" and crank but then it doesn't .. should we be looking for something specific?sparkplugs? possible water in the gas? needs oil ?

Answer: 1.
You need 4 things to make this thing happen: fuel, spark compression, and the one everybody forgets, AIR. Check your airfilter. Also smell your gas. If it smells strange, it may be no good.
Answer: 2.
Fire, then Fuel. Make sure you have spark by removing the plug, connecting the wire and ground it against some metal part of the engine. Crank engine (without holding plug!) and see if there is spark. As far as fuel, it doesn't sound like that gas was all that fresh. If any doubt, drain refill. Old gas is no good. Spark is good, fuel is good, you follow proper starting order and still won't start? Probably needs a carburetor adjustment.
Answer: 3.
buying a couple goats and tieing them in your yard, will solve all lawn mower problems.
Answer: 4.
Not the sparkplug, or else it wouldn't even start at all. Most likely, you haven't pushed on that choke button which sprays some gas into the engine to start it out. Try that.
